Todd’s 1969 Ford Torino

This Cobra has Quite the Bite!

When Todd brought his 1969 Torino up from North Carolina to the KTL shop in Danville, we knew we had something special! This classic piece of American Muscle was in great shape, and Todd came to us and his request was to take this snake to the next level – both inside and out! So our team went to work!

It’s been said that one often has to tear something down in order to rebuild it, and that’s exactly what we did here. Our team completely disassembled Todd’s beloved Torino and documented each part – all the way down to the nuts and bolts. Then the recreation began!

Engine & Drivetrain

Our team took the 428 cu in. Ford V-8 engine and updated it with a new battery from XS Power Batteries and alternator from PowerMaster Performance, a new Edelbrock intake manifold, and pulleys from CVF Racing.

While the engine was being rebuilt, the KTL crew was working to update the chassis and suspension components to handle the additional horsepower that would be generated by the rebuilt engine. The suspension was updated using a kit from Chris Alton’s Chassisworks. New shocks and coilovers from VariShock were fitted, and a new four-wheel disc brake system from Baer Brakes provides the stopping power. The last piece here was fitting new wheels from Schott Wheels.

Interior & Exterior

One thing is for sure, when a vehicle likes this enters our shop, it will be just as nice on the outside as it is on the inside! A great deal of time was spent to ensure that the body of this beast was straight as an arrow and smooth as glass! Some areas required installing new panels from AMD and was finished in gleaming black paint from BASF Automotive Refinish. Zanna gets that miles deep finish from a variety of detailing and car care products by Griot’s Garage.

The interior also received a makeover starting with all new wiring from American Autowire, a new steering column from IDIDIT, heat and a/c from Vintage Air, and an updated gauge cluster from Dakota Digital.
