Todd’s 1969 Cougar Eliminator
The Transformation to an Award Winner
Car enthusiasts are known for not hesitating to ship their prized possessions great distances for restoration projects to ensure their vision for the dream ride is brought to fruition. When Todd selected to send his vehicle all the way from Houston, TX to get the KTL treatment in Danville, VA, he knew what he was doing. Countless hours were spent meticulously planning every detail to tastefully upgrade this rare Mercury. Even with his plans to upgrade this classic muscle car, he wanted to make sure that we preserved and reused as many of the original parts as we could.
We first took the 390 FE motor and stroked it to 445, paired with a Bowler, which was built by @tremec TKX. The seats, which retain OEM styling, are now dressed with Moore and Giles leather complimented with houndstooth accents from SMS. The door panels are also upholstered to custom billet inserts with upgraded wood inlay throughout.
The focus for this build was to level up the interior as she still wears her original Bright Blue Poly paint.
Earlier this year, we displayed this vehicle at the Goodguys Rod and Custom show in Raleigh, NC, and are proud to announce that it was awarded the Design Integrity Award, presented by Arizona Custom Car Design. Todd and the KTL team are honored that this Eliminator was recognized and we would like to thank Goodguys for this esteemed recognition.
